What can a warranty cover?
When a covered part fails, a warranty can help pay for the repair. The parts included and the amount paid depend on your plan.
| May be covered | Usually excluded |
|---|---|
| Mechanical faults, including engine and gearbox components | Faults that started before your cover |
| Electrical faults in parts listed in the plan | Routine servicing, tyres and brake pads |
| Parts and labour for an approved repair | Work carried out without the provider’s approval |
Check the claim limit, labour allowance and any excess you’ll pay. A warranty may not pay the whole bill. Wear-and-tear cover varies.
Keep up with servicing.
Your car’s age, mileage and service history affect eligibility. Follow the servicing schedule and keep the receipts.
Speak to the provider first.
Tell them about the fault and get approval before agreeing to diagnostics or repairs.
Getting a quote
Tell us about your car.
Its details, mileage and servicing, plus how you’d like us to reply.
Check the options.
Any quote should explain the provider, price, covered parts and limits.
You decide.
Read the terms before buying. An enquiry doesn’t start cover.
Anything else?
Can I get a warranty for an older car?
It depends on the provider and plan. Age, mileage, condition and service history can all affect the options available. Give us your car’s details in the enquiry form so those checks can be made.
Do I need a full service history?
Requirements vary. Many plans require you to maintain your car to the manufacturer’s schedule and keep the receipts. If your history has gaps or you’re unsure, say so on the form. Eligibility needs checking before you buy.
Can I use my usual garage?
That depends on the plan. Some providers allow you to choose a suitable garage; others use an approved network or set a labour-rate limit. Get the provider’s authorisation before agreeing to diagnostics or repairs, as unauthorised costs may not be paid.
What about electric and hybrid cars?
These cars need the right plan too. Cover for drive batteries, charging equipment and hybrid systems varies, and battery capacity loss may be excluded. Choose your fuel type in the form and check the specific parts covered in any quote.
Will this form start my cover?
No. This is a request to discuss a warranty. Before buying, check the provider, price, start date, any waiting period, cancellation rights, exclusions and claim limits. Cover only starts as set out in the agreed plan.
